21.02. Piazze Aperte

A public space program for Milan (english lecture)

The groundbreaking „Piazze Aperte“ (Open Squares) program in Milan, developed in collaboration with Agenzia Mobilità Ambiente Territorio (AMAT), Bloomberg Associates, and the Global Designing Cities Initiative, marks a significant shift in urban regeneration and sustainable mobility. This seminar explores the transformation of public spaces into communal places, the expansion of pedestrian areas, and the promotion of sustainable forms of mobility. It highlights the role of tactical urbanism and community-based design in urban spaces, illustrating how a pilot project can evolve into sustainable urban policy.
